HCTF is proud to announce the winners of its 2015 photo contest. Kameko Walker's stunning image of a green heron was chosen as the grand prize winner from more than 200 entries, and photos by Christopher Martin and Noel Morris were selected as the runners-up.
First Prize: Kameko Walker - Green Heron
"A rare summer visitor the lower mainland, a Green Heron (Butorides virescens fishing in a small pond located in a busy East Vancouver neighbourhood. I went out searching for this one after learning of its whereabouts and having heard how elusive they are. Once I located it, I quickly set my camera up, prepared for it to take flight. I spent over an hour observing it while it fished and hawked for dragonflies."

"A female Grizzly bear finishes off a salmon that had been caught in the tall sedge grass as the tide went out in the Khutzeymateen Inlet north of Prince Rupert on British Columbia's northwest coastline."

Runner Up: Noel Morris - Bighorn Rams
Noel captured a different side of California Bighorn ram behaviour than the typical head-banging scenes from the rut. This photograph was taken near Kamloops, BC.
