New Report Released

We are a non-profit foundation investing in habitat conservation projects across BC with an opening for a full-time Summer Student in our Conservation Special Projects Officer position. We are seeking an individual who is energetic, self-directed, and has a positive approach to their career, their work, and their colleagues.

The Summer Student will be part of our Biology Team. This individual will take on a number of tasks and projects in order to advance HCTF’s mission and strategic plan. The focus will be on the conservation lands programs, but tasks may relate to other programs or initiatives as well. This position is based out of our Victoria office, and the individual must be able to work from the office multiple days per week. All applicants must be legally eligible to work in Canada.

REMINDER! Together for Wildlife Scholarship applications are due May 1st, 2024!

HCTF in partnership with the First Nations-B.C. Wildlife & Habitat Conservation Forum and the @governmentofbc Together for Wildlife Initiative (T4W) awards up to 10 academic scholarships annually to Masters and PhD candidates undertaking research that will support a positive impact on stewardship, management, policy, or decision-making of wildlife in BC. These scholarships aim to support reconciliation and collaboration, diversity of perspectives and building community capacity among Indigenous communities and rural areas of BC.

HAPPY WILDLIFE WEEK!

In 1947, the Canadian Government decided the week of April 10th should be National Wildlife Week. This week take some time to reflect on what we can do to help preserve the biodiversity of BC for the future.

Community Grant applications are now OPEN!

Community Grants provide funding to organizations and individuals who need financial help to implement a conservation project. Since 1974, the Province of BC and the Habitat Conservation Trust Foundation provide approximately $150,000 each year to help implement on-the-ground conservation work, with a particular focus on hands-on, community-based, and public awareness initiatives.

Deadline to apply: May 6th, 2024

Don’t forget to finish off those applications and hit submit.

Action Grants support projects that directly involve people and communities to change behaviours and/or practices leading to positive and measurable conservation outcomes in British Columbia. Projects should work to create solutions or sustainable practices, or mitigate human-caused impacts to prevent or reduce impacts to species or ecosystems.

Capacity Grants provide funding to build and strengthen the capability and capacity of organizations to successfully design and deliver conservation or restoration projects. The grant provides funds to support and develop strategies and abilities to initiate actions that benefit fish, wildlife, and habitat conservation aligned with objectives of the HCTF. Capacity grants assist with the first steps in planning, designing, engaging, or implementing a project.
