As the days grow shorter and the air turns crisp, thousands of birds take to the skies on one of nature’s greatest journeys: fall migration. From songbirds to waterfowl, many species travel vast distances between their northern breeding grounds and southern wintering areas. British Columbia plays a vital role in this seasonal movement. Our wetlands, estuaries, and forests provide critical stopover points where migratory birds can rest and refuel. Protecting these habitats ensures birds have safe passage today and for generations to come. This fall, take a moment to look up you might witness a migration in motion. 📷 Stuart Sanders #ConservationInAction #BCWildlife #HabitatConservation #BirdMigration #FallInBC

🌊✨ Happy World Rivers Day! ✨🌊 Did you know this global celebration started right here in BC? 💧 Mark Angelo, from Burnaby, founded both BC Rivers Day and World Rivers Day, and now it’s marked worldwide on the 4th Sunday of September. In BC, rivers are iconic for one reason above all: salmon. Every fall, rivers come alive as salmon return to spawn. 🐟 This migration is not only an incredible sight, but it also sustains bears, birds, and so many other species that depend on the salmon run for survival. Today, let’s celebrate the rivers that connect us all and the life they make possible. 💙 #WorldRiversDay #Rivers #BCConservation #HCTF #WildBC #Nature #Biodiversity #BeautifulBC #Conservation #GetOutside #OutdoorLearning

🌲🍂 It’s National Forest Week! 🍂🌲 At HCTF, we’re proud to support projects that restore forest habitats, protect wildlife, and ensure these green spaces continue to thrive for future generations. More than just beautiful backdrops forests are living systems that provide clean water, store carbon, and create vital habitat for countless species across B.C. This year’s theme, “Canada’s Forests: Supporting Biodiversity and Our Well-being”, is a reminder of the deep connection we share with these ecosystems. Take a moment this week to head outside, explore a trail, and celebrate the forests that sustain us all. 🌿✨ #NationalForestWeek #ConservationInAction #HabitatRestoration #HCTF #BCForests
