Today, on National Indigenous Peoples Day, we recognize and celebrate the rich cultures, histories, knowledge systems, and contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples across Canada. We are grateful for the opportunity to learn from, collaborate with, and support Indigenous communities and Nations throughout British Columbia. The growing number of Indigenous-led conservation projects reflects the knowledge, leadership, and vital role of Indigenous communities in conservation across B.C. Learn more about these and other projects through the link in our bio. 📸 Alison Etter

🐝 Happy World Bee Day! 🐝 Bees may be small, but their impact on our ecosystems is enormous. As pollinators, they help support healthy habitats by enabling the reproduction of countless flowering plants that provide food and shelter for wildlife. In British Columbia, native bees play a vital role in maintaining biodiversity and resilient ecosystems. Protecting and restoring habitat benefits bees, wildlife, and people alike. This World Bee Day, take a moment to appreciate these hardworking pollinators and the habitats they depend on.#WorldBeeDay #Pollinators #BiodiversityBC #ConservationBC #HabitatConservation #HCTF

Thinking about taking up fishing? Why not check out one of the amazing BC Family Fishing Weekend events being hosted by @gofishbc and their partners! Over the weekend (June 19-21), BC waives the requirement for residents of Canada to buy or carry a non-tidal (freshwater) basic fishing licence, giving people the opportunity to try fishing before jumping in the deep end! In addition to waiving this requirement for the weekend. There are tons of events going on across the province to help introduce residents to angling. Some conditions still apply; head to https://buff.ly/lsa1Reb for more information or to find an event near you!

We're excited to announce $783,000 in funding for 45 conservation stewardship projects across British Columbia through our Action, Capacity, and Community Grant programs. These projects will support habitat restoration, species conservation, community engagement, Indigenous-led stewardship, and volunteer-driven conservation efforts in communities throughout the province. These projects are creating meaningful, on-the-ground impacts for fish, wildlife, and habitats across B.C. Every project represents people working together to care for the places and species that make British Columbia unique. We look forward to following their progress and sharing their stories in the months ahead.
