Good news for stewardship grant applicants! We know finding the right grant to apply for can be tricky, so we've decided to host a short webinar covering the various stewardship-related grants - Action (formerly Stewardship), Capacity, and Community Grants - offered by HCTF. If you think any of these grants may be of interest to you or your organization the webinar will be hosted on Tuesday, November 26th from 1:30 - 3:30 PST Can't make it that day? No problem! We will record and post the webinar to our YouTube channel so that it's available to as many people as possible. We're working to make our granting process as easier because every project funded, large or small, contributes to a bright future for the environment in BC for generations to come. Intake for our Fish & Wildlife and CHRF Grant are CLOSING TODAY! HCTF Fish & Wildlife (F&W) Grants are available to anyone (provincial or municipal governments, First Nations, academic institutions, non-government organizations, industry) in BC for projects that: 🌲 Focus on native freshwater fish, wildlife, and their habitats; 🌲 Have the potential to achieve a significant conservation outcome; 🌲 Align with our purposes as laid out in the Wildlife Act. One of HCTF's key priorities is supporting the enhancement and restoration of fish and wildlife habitats. As a result, we strongly encourage projects that include on-the-ground enhancement and restoration activities. The Caribou Habitat Restoration Fund (CHRF) for the 2025-2026 funding cycle aims to restore high-value habitat for caribou in British Columbia using functional and ecological restoration methods. Together we have been able to help more than 4000 students get outdoors and explore their local environment! Go Grants, or Get Outside Grants help support outdoor biodiversity field studies or projects for K-12 classes in British Columbia. GO Grants cover transportation, project materials and or program fees to help teachers take their students outdoors to learn about and experience some of B.C.’s biodiversity. 📢 Scholarship Spotlight: Adam Kanigan 📢 Adam is one of this year's Al Martin Fellowship Scholarship Recipients! Adam Kanigan is a Ph.D. candidate at the University of British Columbia, working under the supervision of Dr. Scott Hinch (UBC) and Dr. Nathan Furey (University of New Hampshire). Adam’s research is focused on predator-prey interactions between bull trout and sockeye salmon, and how such interactions between these species may be influenced by climate change. The Al Martin HCTF Conservation Fellowship supports graduate students aspiring to careers in fish or wildlife conservation and management in British Columbia.

In alignment with the Parks Canada/BC Agreement on Ecological Corridors Stewardship, HCTF is excited to announce a new funding opportunity for the 2025-26 fiscal year. This funding is part of a partnership between Parks Canada's National Ecological Corridors Program and the B.C. Ministry of Water, Land, and Resource Stewardship. It aims to support the identification, planning, and development of ecological corridors while promoting efforts to maintain or restore ecological connectivity and uphold Indigenous stewardship values within these areas. Projects in National Priority Areas for Ecological Corridors 1-6 in B.C. (see: National Priority Areas for Ecological Corridors (canada.ca) will be prioritized, especially those aligned with Environmental Stewardship Initiative Forums, collaborative stewardship efforts, or government-to-government strategic planning. Proposals should be submitted through the Fish & Wildlife Grant Survey Apply application process. To indicate that your project is eligible for this funding, include “Ecological Corridors” at the end of your project title. The deadline for Fish & Wildlife Grant applications is Friday, November 1, 2024, by 4:30 PM PDT. 📸 Michael Schumacher
