Last November, we posted about Larry Davis’s fisher inventory project in the Bridge River watershed. Larry is currently working on a follow-up project to determine if artificial den boxes would be used by female fishers to mitigate the loss of their natural denning habitat. Larry has just sent us the following video: it starts out by providing some background on the project, and then shares some of the amazing remote camera footage of fishers (and other curious creatures) checking out the artificial dens.

This project has just been approved for a third year of HCTF funding. For more information on the study, you can contact Larry Davis of Davis Environmental Ltd.

A reminder that the deadline for submitting a 2015-16 HCTF Acquisition grant application is next Tuesday, March 31^st.

These grants provide funding for the securement of land with high habitat values, so that they may be protected in perpetuity.

HCTF is now accepting applications for the position of Coordinator Administrative Services. This is a full-time, temporary (1 year) position in Victoria, BC. For more details, visit our Careers webpage.

If you’ve received notification from HCTF that your project has been approved in principal for the 2015-16 year, your organization will be required to enter into a Conditional Grant Agreement with HCTF. These agreements will be mailed out in the coming weeks. If you would like to review a sample agreement in advance, one is available here. Note that this is a general template, and specific terms and clauses may vary based on the project. Additional information on Conditional Grant Agreements is available here. Please be advised that HCTF makes revisions to our Conditional Grant Agreements on an annual basis, so it is important to always review the full agreement (even if you have signed HCTF agreements in the past). Any questions about your agreement can be directed to HCTF’s Finance Officer.

The HCTF Board met last weekend to review and make funding decisions on over 200 enhancement proposals seeking 2015-16 funding. A Preliminary List of Approved Projects is now available here.

Attention HCTF Project Leaders! We are approaching the end of the 2014-15 Grant Year and annual Grant Reports are due March 31^st. We have updated the Grant Report form and it is now available. Please use this form for preparing and submitting your 2014-15 Grant Reports. This form can also be used for projects with contract extensions from last year.

This is a transition year to the new format, so if you have already submitted your 2014-15 Grant Report on the old form, that’s okay.
